Unless it was cake.”

The Baker

I’m Victoria and I’m the owner and baker behind Siblings. My work reflects a lifetime of experiences with food and cooking across cultures and regions. I was born in Tajikistan to a Russian Korean family before moving to Maryland, where I grew up and completed my pastry training at a French culinary school. Later I worked in fine dining kitchens and bakeries in Washington D.C., the San Francisco Bay Area, and Nantucket where I refined my technique in pastry, bread, and plated desserts. My appreciation for local and foraged ingredients comes from my time working on organic farms in Japan, France, and Italy. These days, I draw inspiration from my travels and daily walks on Wabanaki land where the bounty of forests, meadows, and shores provide a deep well of creativity.

The Bakery

Siblings is a micro bakery nestled in the heart of Cumberland, Maine, surrounded by hilly farms and pine-dotted fields just a few miles from the Atlantic coast. The bakery began humbly in my small apartment kitchen during the heady days of the early pandemic and has since grown into a full-time job, serving as a creative studio for my culinary expression. Cakes are the main focus - whimsical colorful cakes. Each cake is one-of-a-kind and handcrafted with care and precision, while remaining playful and in-tune with the landscape as it changes with the seasons. All of my cakes are made from scratch to order, which means you will receive something memorable, made special just for you. I strive to use local ingredients and flowers as much as possible — whether gardened in my backyard, purveyed from our many talented farmers and millers, or foraged from the land. From time to time, you may notice cupcakes, cookies, donuts, and other baked goods on the menu, as well as specials around certain holidays and pop-up events around coastal southern Maine. You can also find slices of cakes, cookies, and other pastries every weekend at SMALLS in Portland.
